The Romanian Institute for Integrative Psychotherapy

Integrative psychotherapy approaches the person under all aspects of personal identity, and reference to self and world. Identity represents an active process, affective and cognitive, for self-representation in the entourage, associated with the subjective feeling of one’s permanence, that allows the person to perceive life as an experience that has continuity and unity, and therefore act accordingly. It is identity that satisfies the inter- and intra-personal need for coherence, stability and synthesis that ensures permanence for existence. Overall these regulating functions specified above are indispensable for adapting to changes. Personal identity is placed on a continuum that implies past links into living the present and building a temporal horizon.
